Squirrel SelfServe is a simple off-the-shelf solution for online examinations including where there is a need for automated assessment and certification. Using the fully-featured, rule-driven questionnaire development software, non-technical users are able to create online examinations with a minimum of technical support. Many types of question can be created including text entry, multiple choice, array list, radio button and sliding bar. Assessment criteria can be built into the examination and calculated dynamically to provide scoring for use in the workflow. The examinations are then accessible once the student has registered via the portal. Access is by web browser on any device and examinations are responsive to the type of device so they can easily be completed using a mobile device, PC or Mac.
Back-office staff login via the portal to perform the back-office tasking, this is assisted by the workflow component to provide a fully or semi-automated assessment of the examination depending on the requirement for the examination. The workflow is fully configurable via graphical editor and can include decision points based on the scoring or involve manual assessment steps. Manual assessment can be via further online forms or assessment questionnaires where the assessor is required to be led through the assessment process. The manual assessments and decisions are stored to provide full audit trail where required. The workflow can also take the process right through to creation of PDF certificates from a template and emailing of these to the student.
